After the Wen clan was destroyed, Wei Wuxian stood against the other clans to protect the innocent members of the Wen clan. In the end, he was framed by a villain, bringing disaster upon them all. He accidentally caused the death of his senior sister, Jiang Yanli, and then disappeared without a trace. During the Battle at Nightless City, he fell from a cliff. Just then, a flash of white light swept through, transporting everyone from the cultivation clans to several key locations, where they witnessed scenes from the lives of Wei Wuxian and Nie Qingnian.
They inadvertently saw a world a hundred years in the future, where heaven and earth had already begun to crumble. The five great clans gathered at the Jiang residence, and Nie Qingnian, in order to save everyone, sent the younger generation of the five clans into the world of more than a hundred years ago. Jiang Cheng and Nie Qingnian then entered the Burial Mounds once more, and two groups from different centuries gathered there.
When they learned from Wen Ning that Nie Qingnian had been the one to activate the formation, Jiang Cheng and Nie Qingnian activated it together and vanished from that world. After the Heavenly Dao appeared and warned everyone, it all seemed to disappear, yet also seemed to return to the past. The younger generation had fallen into the very place where the Gusu Lan clan had once stood, before it was burned down. Everything began anew, and the group set out on the path to save the world that was theirs to follow...
