Midnight: A Girl Is Crying

In a small building in an urban village, many migrant workers rent rooms. A newlywed couple hear a woman crying one night as they are going to bed. They call the police, and officers led by Zhao Tiemin arrive to investigate. In a narrow gap in the building, they find a woman's corpse. They begin questioning Ma San, the building's owner, and the tenants. It turns out Ma San's second wife also died under suspicious circumstances, and her body is buried in the building's courtyard.

The municipal police take the case very seriously and assign a special task force led by Zhao Tiemin to investigate. One truth after another begins to emerge.
