Traditional Cultivation vs. Acquired Mutation
An ensemble cast
The first ten chapters are told from the male lead’s perspective. After that, the story shifts to the heroine’s domain.
[Note: Other than the male and female leads, no one counts as a secondary couple unless their relationship is explicitly established from the start.]
[Since the writing spanned a long period, the author’s views changed over time. The book may contain inappropriate terms. Please understand. (I didn’t realize that edits couldn’t be made after marking the book complete.)]
There are many madmen in this world, there are evil people, and there are no ghosts or gods.
Well, life really is full of surprises.
Tan Siyue never imagined that her ordinary life would be turned upside down tonight.
So what if it was? The house could be on fire and she’d still sleep. It didn’t matter if her life fell apart.
Heh, she’d just lie flat.
The world was quietly changing, but ordinary people could hardly notice.
They say that nothing is allowed to become a spirit after the founding of the nation, but a group called the “Whisperers” is out there eliminating demons and monsters lurking in the shadows, and fighting off every kind of inhuman phenomenon.
The Whisperers organization was formerly the “Keepers of the Cage,” founded four hundred years ago to serve the imperial court. Its primary duty was to protect the ruler from danger in secret. After one dynasty after another fell, the Keepers of the Cage gradually dispersed among the people. Their members had different abilities, and they eliminated threats and protected the common folk, becoming the stuff of countless folk tales. After the founding of the nation, the government gathered talented people and brought the new generation of the Keepers of the Cage into its fold, renaming them the Whisperers: they sink into darkness and vanish at dawn.
The writing is very good, but sometimes it omits too much, which makes it a bit confusing. A lot of information is not obvious, so sometimes I read the top part without following the next part. But the setting is very novel and the characters are well created.
Incredibly pretty
The story is interesting and the author writes well.
