Basking in the Plateau Sun

On the Loess Plateau of northern Shaanxi, everything in her life began with a marriage of convenience... A frail young woman, bound by custom and fate, gave her marriage away as a form of payment for a promise she had made as a child, before she was old enough to understand what an oath meant. The faint, fleeting warmth that once brushed her heart, the turbulent road on which she pursued her dreams, the bitterness of married life, and the tragedies she witnessed on the plateau could not stop her from seeking the guiding light in her heart. She believed that as long as she held on to hope and kept searching, there would always be a way out, a road home that truly belonged to her.
