“Someone, come quick! This is terrible! The young lady is dead!” A maid came rushing out and accidentally ran straight into the steward. He cursed, “You stupid girl, watch where you're going! Why are you panicking? The young lady died of illness. Hurry up and tell Madam the good news.” As he spoke, a sinister smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
In her first life, she gave everything she had to help him ascend the throne, only to betray the man who had protected her and kept her safe. He lost his crown, became a prisoner, and died in jail.
In her second life, when she met the blazing gaze of the young emperor, she decided he was the one who would protect her for the rest of her life. The palace was lonely, but at least she had him for company. It wasn't until he returned from an inspection tour with a farm girl in tow that she understood the bright-eyed boy no longer belonged to her. When the young emperor was later tricked by his own brother and died in prison, she chose without hesitation to follow him in death. Perhaps she had owed him from her previous life.
In her third life, she was done with all of it. What kind of lousy script was this? My fate is mine to decide, not Heaven's. Whether I live or die is up to me...
And so began her new life: tearing apart fake sweethearts and white lotuses, kicking those cheating scumbags to the curb, and rewriting a tragic ending into a happy one.
