Synopsis

Don’t Laugh, This Is the True History of the Qing Dynasty (3-Book Set). Part One recounts the history from Nurhaci’s birth in 1559 to the 86 years during which Shi Kefa was trapped in Yangzhou, ending in 1645. This was a turbulent era of upheaval and change, as the Qing rose and the Ming fell. The events that unfolded were gripping, bloody, and brutal. Part Two depicts the 105 years from the birth of Zhang Xianzhong, the “Demon King of Chaos,” in 1606 to 1720, when Yue Zhongqi entered Tibet and defeated the Dzungar forces. The roving rebels brought calamity to the land, while the Southern Ming court struggled to survive. The Qing army’s bloody suppression after entering the Pass, Zheng Chenggong’s resilience and unwavering loyalty, the Shunzhi Emperor’s obsessive love and frustrated resistance, and Kangxi’s capture of Oboi, suppression of the Three Feudatories, and defeat of Galdan all feature in this account. Part Three depicts roughly 80 years, from the late Kangxi era, when his sons vied for the throne, to the early Jiaqing era, when the White Lotus Rebellion was put down. Political struggles and military campaigns under the Yongzheng and Qianlong emperors run throughout the book, with the Qianlong Emperor’s so-called “Ten Great Campaigns” receiving the author’s particular attention.

Historical Fiction: No Nonsense Allowed

It doesn’t have to be completely historically accurate, but at least don’t make it ridiculous. I want power struggles and political maneuvering that make sense. People shouldn’t just get confused all the time and believe the protagonist at first sight. The language doesn’t need to be perfectly period-appropriate, but please don’t throw in internet slang and memes at every turn.
