The Demon Emperor in Hiding: Don’t Panic, I Really Can’t Fight

Also known as: The Demon Emperor’s Revenge Diary; As a Bandit Chief, I Lead My Men in Chopping Our Way Through the Thirty-Six Heavens

Retired Demon Emperor + playing the pig to eat the tiger + lighthearted comedy + schemes and strategizing

Forced to retire, the Demon Emperor goes into hiding on a small mountain and becomes its bandit chief, taking in thirty-six martial artists as his underlings.

Li Cheng: “I’m a bandit chief who can’t do martial arts at all.”

What? Monk, you say you’ve understood the Mahayana Buddhist teachings and want to storm Great Thunderclap Temple and expose those hypocrites?

Great! I’ll clear the way for you! Go on, charge ahead!

Little wooden sword, you want to cleave open the Nine Heavens?

What’s the point of that? Let me tell you: to grasp the ultimate mysteries of the sword, you have to cleave open the Lingxiao Throne Hall.

Little poison expert, you want to save the world and heal people?

Save them for what? They’re all pawns. Poison those hypocritical immortals at the source, and everyone can finally be free.

Before he knew it, Li Cheng realized that the thirty-six ordinary people who had first become his subordinates had all grown into mighty figures who could hold their own in the greater world. Together, they asked him a soul-searching question:

“Chief, you really can’t use martial arts?”

Li Cheng: “I really can’t! I cultivate demonic power.

I don’t know martial arts at all.

Sigh, I never planned to come out of retirement.

But you lot went and pushed me back into the position of Demon Emperor.

I had no choice but to chop down everyone who’d schemed against me!”
