A fanfiction inspired by The Untamed. Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan are just good friends and confidants.
As a child, the heroine Yu Yangxue was abducted and sold to a brothel. She was rescued by Meng Mu, Qiuniang, who treated her like her own daughter and gave her the name Meng Xue. After Qiuniang’s death, she went with her older brother Meng Yao to the Lanling Jin Clan, where they met Jin Zixuan.
After she and her brother were driven out, the Qinghe Nie Clan took them in and sent her to the Gusu Lan Clan to learn swordsmanship. She grew up alongside Lan Wangji, while Meng Yao was groomed to become Nie Mingjue’s trusted aide. Later, Jiang Fengmian of the Yunmeng Jiang Clan came to discuss a matter and recognized her. She was reunited with the Meishan Yu Clan and renamed Yu Yangxue. Her mother was from the Shuoyang Chang Clan. Wei Wuxian’s story later follows much the same course as in The Untamed, but with a better ending: he earns everyone’s acceptance and returns to the Yunmeng Jiang Clan, where he and Jiang Cheng become known as the Twin Heroes of Yunmeng.
The heroine’s pairing hasn’t been decided yet. Possible male leads include Lan Wangji, Xue Yang, Jin Zixuan, Nie Huaisang, and Wen Ning. It leans a little toward a heroine adored by everyone, but she doesn’t transmigrate, and her character is absolutely top-notch: she’s lovable, clever, and never short of a sharp retort. Jiang Yanli’s pairing is Wei Wuxian, her childhood sweetheart, and they’re incredibly sweet together. Wen Qing and Jiang Cheng both have two younger brothers to worry about, so their ending might be tragic, depending on what readers think. Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan are a pair you can enjoy in your own corner. No danmei.
