Song Yaxuan: Then Let's Stay Madly in Love Forever

“If you’re afraid of getting married, I’ll stay in the honeymoon phase with you forever.”

SYX.

“I want to build a home with you.”

The two first met at the entrance to a narrow alley. The boy was fighting a group of thugs, and the girl stepped in to help him. They met again at school: he was a transfer student who always came first, while she had been the school’s runner-up for years. Perhaps their bond was destined.

After practice, the boy would return to the classroom to study with the girl. He would run the 1,000 meters with her at the sports meet, watch her perform from beneath the stage, and leave one question unanswered on the college entrance exam so he could end up in the same city as her. He wasn’t the only one making an effort. The girl would sit by the sports field during breaks and watch him play basketball, wait at the finish line when he ran, get seats in the front row for all his competitions, and choose the same city as him when filling out her college applications. She felt secure, too.

The boy was proud and unruly, while the girl was cool and reserved. They had nothing in common, yet her act of standing up for someone brought them together in the end. He settled down, then turned into a clingy sweetheart around her, acting cute and begging for hugs. He had her completely wrapped around his finger. Who would have guessed their first meeting would be such a bloody scene?

“Hey, how do you say ‘I like you’ in English?”

“I love you.”

“Me too.”
