In the early years of the Eastern Han dynasty, the Western Regions suffered repeated incursions by the Xiongnu. In response to a request from the rulers of the Western Regions, Emperor Ming sent Marquis Xianqin Dou Gu on a military campaign west. The news stirred the heart of an obscure court proofreader: Ban Chao, younger brother of the historian Ban Gu. From a young age, Ban Chao had admired chivalry and justice, yet even at forty he was still drifting through the streets. He laid down his writing brush and took up arms, at last finding a stage where he could make his mark.
With thirty-six companions, Ban Chao spent more than thirty years building his position. Displaying extraordinary military genius, he applied the Art of War to its fullest and successfully drove out the Northern Xiongnu. With diplomatic skill that turned the slightest advantage into a decisive victory, he united and pacified thirty-six vassal states, rebuilt the Protectorate of the Western Regions, and reopened the Silk Road after half a century of closure. He fostered profound development and integration among different peoples and accomplished a legacy that would endure for generations.
This sweeping novel vividly recreates Ban Chao’s legendary life, full of intrigue, bold maneuvering, and colorful adventures. It paints a grand picture of politics, economics, culture, and diplomacy between the Han dynasty and the vassal states of the Western Regions, with both epic breadth and carefully layered detail. It is an inspiring heroic saga and a magnificent chronicle of the development and integration of peoples.
It looks good, the Ban family is in harmony, facing difficulties together, and there is good energy. The characters are vividly described and the story is fascinating, making you want to follow it all the way to see the outcome. I really like this simple yet interesting book. Thumbs up 👍👍👍.
The author's writing style is exquisite and each link is explained clearly, allowing readers to travel back to the turbulent years spent by the Han Dynasty Angels in the Western Regions through beautiful text descriptions, and portray a real and flesh-and-blood tall image of Dingyuan Marquis of the Han Dynasty, so that future generations will remember his great achievements and admire his tall image.
Ban Chao's achievements are remarkable, even worse than Zhang Qian's. But then the Western Region was lost again, which was so sad! Every time I go to Yumenguan in Yangguan, I look at the vast desert, look up to the majestic pass, and recall the overwhelming history, but there is only silence, and any thoughts are pale and feeble.
The narrative has an ancient style, giving people an in-depth understanding of the Western Regions. According to historical records, Ban Chao made great contributions to China and the Chinese nation. Because of him, the Western Regions were incorporated into the Western Han Dynasty, the Silk Road was smooth at that time, and the "Han Dynasty, Han Nationality" became famous early in Central and Western Asia and Eastern Europe.
"I don't dare to look at Jiuquan County, but I hope to be born in Yumen Pass." I had read a chapter about Ban Chao in the History of Han Dynasty before, and I was attracted by his story. I read about the tears of the old man guarding the beacon tower, the excitement of the soldiers who had just arrived in Liangzhou, and the sighs of the soldiers from other battalions when they stood firm. There are too many scenes that make people cry. The 36 people who determined the Western Regions are the most courageous in ancient and modern times. I've only watched half of it, and I highly recommend it.
Aspirational and courageous, you can travel thousands of miles through the Western Regions Thirty-six heroes of the past dared to make Yi Di tremble. Wild geese travel on the yellow sand, the autumn wind blows, and the dome is ringed with deep jade belts Meandering around, cattle and sheep are approaching, and the ambition to become a prince is endless Entering Shanshan for the first time and frightening Khotan, trying hard to win over Shulewu and then surrendering. The Yuezhi of Shache deceived the Han Dynasty, and the Qihu of Qiuci acted as a mischief. Use powerful crossbows, bows and swords to conquer the barbarians, and overwhelm the Central Asian Ban Dingyuan When I leave, I will have green hair and when I return, it will be snowy. A strong and powerful man will be famous for his beauty.
Lifelike, showing the majestic appearance of the king. Ban Chao is a strange man from the ancient times, and he has been granted the title of Marquis from thousands of miles away. He is worthy of being the Queen of the Tiger King, showing his majesty as a Tiger Marquis! Look at me, the man of the Han family, even though I am thousands of miles away, the great Han Dynasty can still realize its ambition to unify the world. How great is it!
A good book brings Dingyuan Hou Banchao to life in front of me.
In China for thousands of years, there has only been one Ban Chao.
A very good book, keep it up
