Moonlight of Days Gone By

[A madcap, ambitious young master x a gentle, elegant beauty. Forced marriage, love after marriage, older man, children, power struggles.]

Cao Pi was the eldest legitimate son of the esteemed Minister of Works. Ambitious, mature beyond his years, and decorated with military victories, he was also a hopeless romantic. After Ye was captured, he forcibly took me back to Xudu to marry him.

I exclaimed, “But I’m Yuan Xi’s wife!”

Cao Pi: “Now you’re mine.”

He showered me with gold and jewels, and whenever I got myself into trouble, Cao Pi cleaned up the mess. Who would have thought that someone so smooth was only a teenager?

*A few things to know before reading:

1. I copied and pasted the descriptions of battle scenes from Baidu, with occasional changes. Some are retold in my own words based on my understanding, and some battles may be moved earlier or later to advance the plot. In short, take the scenes in this story with a grain of salt.

2. Cao Pi will have other women besides Zhen Ji. He favors her, but she is not his only beloved.

3. The story will address whether Zhen Ji really had an affair with Cao Zhi, as the rumors claim.

4. I started writing this because I love Zhen Ji’s story and wanted to write my own account of the life of this young woman who lived more than 1,800 years ago.

5. Aside from historical figures and battles, some of which I have altered to advance the plot, Cao Pi and Zhen Ji’s life together is based on my imagination and is not historically verified.

6. History buffs, please refer to the Book of the Later Han, Records of the Three Kingdoms, and Book of Wei.
