Through the Clouds, Into the Light

Zhu Yunteng, a descendant of the Wu Commoner line whose family had no idea how many generations it had spanned, was struck by a bolt of lightning on a clear day and sent back more than six hundred years to the Hongwu era for showing disrespect to his ancestors. At the time, Empress Ma and the eldest legitimate grandson, Zhu Xiongying, had died young, while Crown Prince Zhu Biao had just been buried at Zhongshan. The Hongwu Emperor's keen Panlong Saber was already itching for blood. He wished he could slaughter everyone under heaven and have them join his wife, children, and grandchildren in the afterlife. At that very moment, our protagonist's soul transmigrated into that of his ancestor, Prince Zhu Yuntong of a certain commandery. With his half-brother Zhu Yunwen about to be named Crown Prince's Heir by the Old Zhu, and his formidable fourth uncle, the future Ming Emperor Chengzu Zhu Di, sharpening his knives in the shadows, Zhu Yuntong decided to fight to the death. He absolutely refused to become that wretched Wu Commoner, whose life was snuffed out with a noose and a cup of poison.
