Study Confucianism with Liang Shuming

Liang Shuming's New Confucianism advocates "returning to facts" to explain Confucianism, which has two meanings: one is to restore Confucianism from symbolic form to real life, and the other is to restore Confucianism from moral norms to human psychology. Liang Shuming defined Confucianism as the study of life, used the paradigm of life to interpret Confucianism, and established a channel between original Confucianism and Confucianism of the Song and Ming dynasties, allowing Confucianism to get rid of the shackles of institutionalization and formalization since the Han Dynasty and gain new opportunities for development. Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism are generally studied as a kind of philosophical thought or explained as a kind of knowledge. However, the author of this book sees it differently. Mr. Liang Shuming believes that these three schools are all a kind of knowledge about people's cultivation, cultivation or cultivation, and their inherent fundamental spirit is "practice". Therefore, he said: "The three schools of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism all value practice and cultivation, and each has its own real problems that must be solved, and it is not just a matter of words and ears. If you do not grasp this point, it is not enough to describe the three schools of learning." For example, the Confucian school of Confucianism, according to the author's opinion, is "the academic field that specializes in leading our physical and mental life to become more conscious and self-reliant, and to change our entire life." The author does not deny that these three schools of thought "contain ideas and knowledge", but "the main focus is on the cultivation, cultivation, and enlightenment of one's own body." If not, "it would be untrue to speak of it only as philosophy." Each of the texts included in this book not only emphasizes the inherent fundamental spirit of the Three Schools of Learning - "practice", but also points out the specific methods of Confucian cultivation and practice.
