Ye Zhixu spent half her life adrift, dazed and confused, never speaking and never facing reality.

Rumor had it that Second Master Shen of the capital was cold-hearted, aloof, and devoid of desire.

When news spread that he would fulfill his marriage contract with the Ye family's daughter, many believed she would be nothing more than a figurehead.

As Ye Zhixu lay in bed, sleeping long and deep, Shen Qi'an copied Buddhist scriptures by hand and offered them at the temple. In the pouring rain, filled with devout sincerity, he climbed each step with three bows, kneeling before Guanyin and praying only that Ye Zhixu might enjoy a lifetime of peace.
