Long Time No See, Gu King

Ye Qingtang came to the Miaojiang region of Nanyue to find the Chi Gu that could save her master and senior brother. Late one night, she knocked on the door of a private residence.

A tall, long-legged figure dressed in Nanyue clothing sat beneath a tree of paired blossoms, legs crossed. The man took Ye Qingtang in for the night. As she searched for information about Gu worms, the two got along well. He seemed as aloof as a deity on a snowy mountain, but after spending time with him, Ye Qingtang found that he wasn't so hard to approach after all. The man seemed to know her. Worried she might get lost, he used a spirit Gu to show her the way and even cooked for her...

When the appointed time came, Ye Qingtang still didn't return. The man went looking for her with a gift, only to learn that she was engaged and would soon marry someone else. His eyes darkened, and he turned away.

After her escape failed and Ye Qingtang was trapped in the ancient village, the man hung a necklace around her neck and said hoarsely, "I told you not to take it off. This way I can stay by your side and suppress the Gu inside you..."

He wiped the tears from her eyes, lifted her chin, and stared fervently at her flat stomach before planting another Gu. "This time, I won't let you go. You'll stay by my side forever..."
