Looking at such a simple tomb, she could hardly believe he had murdered his brother to take the throne, so Jiang Ruan began researching him.

By a twist of fate, she transmigrated to the Kaiyuan era. But the future emperor seemed to have vanished into thin air, and there was no news of him anywhere.

With no other choice, she disguised herself as a man and traveled the country with a young monk, hoping to find out what had happened to the emperor.

She had no idea that danger was closing in. Surrounded by countless black-clad assassins, she could only wonder what was going on. Their repeated ordeals brought her heart ever closer to the young monk, but an insurmountable gulf lay between them…

“Ruanruan, I never told you this, but I had already left the monastery before I came down the mountain.”

As time went on, Jiang Ruan realized that many things were beyond her control, and even impossible to change.

General Xiao, famed for his loyalty and unwavering devotion…

Xiao Ce, who longed for a free and peaceful life but was forced to become a puppet chancellor…

For the sake of the imperial capital, what should they do?
