Hong Kong Television: Starting with Police Story

A civilization that had mastered the secrets of the universe discovered us.

A civilization? It had taken them countless cosmic eras of effort before they could call themselves a civilization.

The higher-ups decided to stage a live experiment to expose these creatures who fancied themselves civilized, and see whether they could really compare with them.

“Deep Space, this is no help to the experiment. You’re even harming the subject.”

“But it lives in a falsehood.”

“Deep Space, it lives in a falsehood, but it doesn’t know that, does it?”

“Observer 020013, have you ever, even for a single moment, thought that we might be living in a falsehood just like it? Have you?”

Li Yan, a recent graduate, receives a letter from his uncle and decides to return to the paper effigy shop.

That very day, his soul enters a movie world. At first, he thinks it’s a dream, but gradually realizes that this world is real.

After traveling back and forth between reality and the movie worlds again and again, Li Yan becomes immersed in them... until the day arrives when he realizes he isn’t the only chosen one.

As the door of choice stands before him, a bewitching voice asks,

“Li Yan, if you walk out that door, you’ll lose everything. Why not stay here, remain forever young, and enjoy every kind of life?”

“Right. Why not?”
