Yan Qingyue, the legitimate daughter of Prince Xiaoyao, often kept her maternal aunt company in the palace. There, she witnessed the schemes of the imperial harem and women in the inner quarters fighting over men. She wanted a life with one person, devoted to each other forever. She didn't want to compete with other women for a man or waste away in the inner quarters, so she turned down the position of crown princess.

When she thought she had found that person, he betrayed her. She decisively divorced him and embarked on her own career.

After witnessing her mother's death and seeing the hardships ordinary people endured, she came to understand her parents' devotion to their country and people. From then on, she opened shops and went into business, becoming the richest merchant in the world. She trained covert guards and kept abreast of everything under heaven, helping the crown prince overcome every obstacle.

The betrayer knelt and begged for forgiveness. Yan Qingyue said, “Why would this commandery princess go back to old flames?”

When she turned around, the man who had promised to stay by her side and see the world flourish was still there. He said, “Qingqing, this prosperous age is just as you wished. Now, Your Highness, isn't it time you gave me some love?”
