Romance of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms

There are two similar troubled times in Chinese history, with very similar characters and stories. One was the Three Kingdoms, and the other was the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms. It seems that the original cast of the Three Kingdoms have traveled to the five generations to retell the story of the Three Kingdoms. Similarities between these two histories: 1. The duration is about the same. The Three Kingdoms spanned a total of 60 years from the time Cao Pi became emperor to the Western Jin Dynasty when Wu was destroyed. The Five Dynasties lasted for 53 years, from the time Zhu Wen became emperor to the Northern Song Dynasty and Zhou Dynasty. 2. Discussing the causes and consequences, the Three Kingdoms spanned 96 years from the Yellow Turban Uprising to the Western Jin Dynasty's destruction of Wu. The Five Dynasties lasted 104 years from the Huangchao Uprising to the Song Dynasty's destruction of the Northern Han Dynasty. 3. The dynasties before these two troubled times were Han and Tang respectively, both of which were the most powerful dynasties in ancient times. The Han and Tang Dynasties were interrupted by Wang Mang and Wu Zetian for 5 years respectively. The Han Dynasty had Emperor Guangwu Zhongxing, and the Tang Dynasty had Xuanzong Zhongxing. Are they very similar? 4. The dynasties that followed these two troubled times were the Jin and Song Dynasties. They were two relatively weak dynasties in ancient times. They were not completely unified. They both perished due to barbarian invasions. After fleeing south, they re-established their countries and settled in the south of the Yangtze River. 5. The Three Kingdoms began with the Yellow Turban Uprising, and the Five Dynasties began with the Huangchao Uprising. All have a yellow character. 6. During the Three Kingdoms period, Cao Cao, the king of Wei, held the emperor hostage to order the princes. During the Five Dynasties, there was also a man who kidnapped the emperor and ordered all the princes in the world to be named King of Liang. During the Warring States Period, the capital of the Wei State was in Daliang, and the King of Wei was also called the King of Liang. So the King of Liang is actually the King of Wei. 7. During the Three Kingdoms period, there was an uncle Liu Huang who helped the Han Dynasty. During the Five Dynasties, there was Emperor Li who wanted to revive the Tang Dynasty. 8. There was the State of Wu during the Three Kingdoms period, and there was also the State of Wu during the Five Dynasties period. 9. During the Three Kingdoms period, there was Shu.
