Hong Kong Films: I Told You to Do Good, So Why Are You the Villain?

Gu Qing transmigrates to Hong Kong in 1982 and becomes a red pole under Fat Lai of Hung Hing, activating the Great Philanthropist System.

I joined the underworld, and you expect me to become a great philanthropist? Outrageous!

But Gu Qing’s path to charity is unlike anyone else’s.

“My big brother’s gone. Does taking care of his wife count as a good deed?”

“My sister-in-law is lonely. Does keeping her company count as a good deed?”

“My junior wants to study. Does supervising her count as a good deed?”

Years later, Gu Qing becomes Hong Kong’s only great philanthropist and tycoon, known as the beauty collector and the underground kingpin. He overwhelms Western financial groups and becomes a legend of his era.

Wong Chi-sing: “He’s terrifying. Everyone wants to be a great philanthropist, but Gu Qing’s charitable work is paved with bones.”

Lee Sau-yin: “Why is Gu Qing the only philanthropist who insists on killing drug lords and destroying drug labs?”

Lee Man-bun: “Other people are known as philanthropists for donating money, but Gu Qing has the title of Charity Emperor. Why do you think that is?”

Luk Chi-lim: “You say Gu Qing is the only underworld boss of the old era? Then why is he always working for the good of society?”

I’m Gu Qing, a Hung Hing boss, and the only Charity Emperor to shine in the old era!
