The Beauty of the Chu Palace

[Reborn + alternate history + everyone is smart + pure palace intrigue + a touch of ensemble cast] In her previous life, Jiang Mi entered the Eastern Palace as a secondary consort for the sake of her family. Her peerless beauty won the Crown Prince’s favor, and she fell for his tender words. After he ascended the throne, she steadily rose in rank, eventually becoming a consort. In the end, she had simply given her heart to the wrong man, and died in bitterness. Reborn into a new life, Jiang Mi no longer seeks the emperor’s favor or affection. She only hopes to spend her remaining years in the palace in peace. Unexpectedly, it is precisely because she stands outside the game that she can see the beauties of the inner palace scheming against one another. History repeats itself. People and events she never understood before are now clear to her, one by one. The truth behind each twist and turn is a show in itself. Watching from the sidelines, she figures her long years ahead will be quite interesting. The story moves at a leisurely pace, with everyone as a protagonist. It has a touch of an ensemble cast, weaving in the perspectives of many characters to depict the palace struggles and offer an up-close look at the lives of consorts behind the deep vermilion walls.
