The setting is very good, but there is no sense of survival at all. It is similar to a casual novel. It is said to be about survival. I don't see anything particularly dangerous. Moreover, one person can actually fish dozens of boxes a day. Even non-chiefs will not starve to death and have no shortage of resources.
