The Wickedly Handsome Imperial Preceptor Wants to Elope with Me

Chi Qi, a concubine-born daughter who was kept hidden and suffered endless humiliation in the Minister of Works' residence, died the night before the truth of her birth was to be revealed.

In the final moment before losing consciousness, Chi Qi thought she saw again the short-lived Imperial Preceptor who had died saving her.

“You were so proud. Your life should never have been stained with a reputation for debauchery because of me.”

Chi Qi laid her right hand over her chest and tore away the only thing she had left to remember Wen Qingyu by.

When she opened her eyes again, she had returned to the year she was to come of age. She rummaged through the boxes and chests, and really did find the general's jade pendant.

In this life, she no longer had to hide who she was. At a young age, she became famous throughout the capital for her extraordinary talent and brilliance. As a legitimate daughter of the Chi family, she could even ride into battle and defend her country.

Only, in this life, it seemed she had forgotten someone important.

“If I hadn't asked for that jade pendant this time around, would you really have forgotten me?”

On their wedding night, Wen Qingyu pushed the door open and narrowed his eyes at Chi Qi, who guiltily looked away.

“In this life, the next life, and the one after that, I'll stay by your side.”

“Don't even think about forgetting me again.”

The three men in the palace took turns pouring each other a cup, and somehow drank all the celebratory peach-blossom wine sent by the Imperial Preceptor's residence in one night, before collapsing in a drunken heap.

Xie Huaijin was barely coherent. “If I weren't the emperor, would she have chosen me?”

Yu Ci slumped over the table, glum. “If I had met her sooner, I could have stayed by her side a little longer.”

Jing Qichi shouted, “When I was fourteen, I should have taken her away from this wretched place called Anyuan.”

The next day, Wen Qingyu thoughtfully sent the three men his warmest wishes, only to be unceremoniously thrown out of the imperial palace.
