The Tang Dynasty Night Watchman

“Fang Ping'an, the Great Tang needs the Night Watchers' protection. I hope you'll keep at it as you always have.” “Fang Ping'an, the Night Watchers' duty is to eliminate every strange and baleful thing, and restore justice and peace to the world.” Then one day, when he accidentally tasted blood, everything changed. He saw that the Great Tang was a prison. The lofty emperor was nothing but a puppet. The ministers of the court shed their human skins and greedily fed on everything around them. Things beyond imagination roamed the resplendent palace. Fang Ping'an saw with his own eyes a carriage sneaking into the imperial city at midnight, piled high with corpses. The Crown Prince leaped into a tree like a wildcat and snarled at the moon. It all shattered his beautiful illusions about the Great Tang. Night fell, and Fang Ping'an awoke. He looked up at the moon. The waning moon had passed, but the full moon had yet to arrive. A very auspicious day, good for worshipping the gods and meeting friends and family.
