Wan Sui was taught from childhood to make her own way in life and never rely on her family's status or connections. Two years into her entertainment career, she was still an unknown bit player. Then a rumor linking her to a newly crowned film emperor suddenly made her infamous.

Zhou Yan had originally planned to clear up the misunderstanding. But when he heard that the Wan family wanted Sui Sui to go on a blind date and settle down soon, he suddenly changed his mind. The thought of watching her meet another man made him uncomfortable. Marrying her didn't seem like such a bad idea.

-

“You lied to me.”

Wan Sui tried to run as soon as she said it, but Zhou Yan rolled over and pinned her beneath him.

The air between them was tinged with the faint smell of alcohol. Zhou Yan breathed in the delicate scent of white tea on her, intoxicating as the finest aphrodisiac, and leaned in to kiss her.

Wan Sui watched Zhou Yan suddenly get all worked up, then turned her head. His kiss landed on her hair instead.

Zhou Yan chuckled and tilted her chin up, making her look at him.

A blush had spread across Wan Sui's fair skin, and her eyes were full of grievance.

He wasn't drunk at all. He'd lied to me! How was I supposed to drag a man over six feet tall around? It's not easy!

Zhou Yan's nose brushed against hers. His voice was unexpectedly gentle and husky.

“I didn't lie. I really am drunk, just... I miss you too much.”

Well, Wan Sui fell for him all over again. Every time she resolved to avoid getting attached, he effortlessly made her heart flutter.
