"The Big Grouse" collects 14 of Tournier's short stories, which include reinterpretations of classic literature or myths and legends, humorous and satirical descriptions of real life, and bizarre explorations of human nature or society.
He hides profound philosophical implications in ordinary daily life scenes to create a wonderful and extraordinary reading experience: children's first adventure, a strange girl's death exploration, the secret desires of marginalized characters, love stories on the side of the highway...
In Tournier's literary world, life seems ordinary, but it is full of surprises.

This book is very interesting! Tournier's short stories are full of whimsy, and each story seems to tear a hole in ordinary life, allowing you to see a different world. Just like the drunkard who has been missing for many years, his adventure stories are jaw-dropping. I sometimes wonder, what would happen if I disappeared? Will there be a wonderful experience waiting for me? However, I don't want to meet those cannibals 😜 Some characters in the book are quite annoying, such as the fisherman who always laughs at the drunkard. Fortunately, the drunkard finally found happiness. This book made me think more about life. Maybe ordinary days also hide extraordinary possibilities.
