[Su Wen and Meng Ci, 1v1, both chaste, transmigrate into a book, cozy everyday life raising a child, a feel-good, sweet romance with no angst. The setting is fictional, so don’t nitpick. The setting is fictional, so don’t nitpick. The setting is fictional, so don’t nitpick. That’s important enough to say three times. Everything is based on what I want.]
Su Wen is a comic artist. On her way to a concert, she dies in a car accident. When she wakes up, she discovers that she has transmigrated into a book, and that her character is destined to die of illness.
In the novel, the original Su Wen schemes to marry the male lead, but through a twist of fate, she ends up marrying the second male lead, Meng Ci. She accepts it readily enough, but after the wedding, she resents his cold attitude. Her mother constantly exploits her, and her mother-in-law treats her with biting cruelty. Not long after giving birth to a daughter, the frail original Su Wen dies of illness.
After her death, her mother-in-law raises the girl. But Meng Ci’s mother only has eyes for the grandson born to her younger son, and lets others bully and abuse Su Wen’s daughter. Whenever Meng Ci comes home, his mother puts on a show of doting on the girl. As soon as he leaves, her true nature comes out.
When Su Wen’s daughter is three, someone pushes her into the water, and she drowns. One of those responsible is the son of Meng Ci’s younger brother. The book only depicts Meng Ci briefly, focusing mainly on the love story between the male lead, Sun He, and the female lead, Su Hui.
Su Wen sees the cherubic baby lying beside her and chooses to face reality. Then she looks at her own sickly body and realizes she has a long, hard road ahead of her!
Meng Ci has been stationed on an island for years. Just after returning from a mission, he receives a telegram from his wife and takes leave to go home. When he gets there, he finds that she seems like a different person: more cheerful, with a brighter smile.
