The Pride of the Silent World——miss America 95 Heise Whites

This book is written based on my mother's confession, describing how she raised me, her views on the various choices she had to make, etc. In many ways, my family is a typical American family. We are neither very rich nor have a prominent surname. We lived in a nice bungalow in a middle-class neighborhood, and my father used to take us sailing on weekends. My sisters and I rode a yellow school bus to public school, and like most of our friends, we often worked odd jobs in the afternoons. Our parents had to go to work every day, there were no family financial problems, there were also sisterly quarrels. It's just a normal "normal" life except that I'm deaf.
