The protagonist Liu Gan is a quadruple amputee in real life. A quirk in the server code recognizes his prosthetic limbs as "real limbs" in the game, allowing him to have "normal" arms and legs but still have the strength and power of the steel limbs, and therefore more power than the average player. With this little cheat helping him survive the early stages of the game, Liu Gan sets out to find out what's going on and endure it as long as he can.
