After a romantic setback, Chen Ran sat alone by the lake drinking late at night, when he unexpectedly encountered the divine empress Ji Qingyue, who had come from the God Realm to hunt down the demon leader known as the Black Fiend.
After a fierce battle, the empress finally killed the Black Fiend. But as she relaxed to recover, the cunning demon ambushed her, afflicting her with an evil curse and leaving her on the brink of death.
Chen Ran tried to help out of kindness, only to be tainted by the curse himself. This caused the curse to mutate, linking his and the empress's life force and souls. They could not stray too far from each other, or the curse would erupt and endanger their lives.
With no other choice, the empress had to stay with Chen Ran for the time being while they searched for the scattered fragments of the divine clan's sacred relics hidden throughout the mortal world.
And so, Chen Ran became the empress's little sidekick.
Although it is not the popular fast-paced, the writing is okay. The empress is portrayed with great feeling. This is the first time I have read an urban empress. I look forward to the follow-up. Come on.
