Skinning

The main story is told from the perspective of someone who isn’t a good person. It isn’t a clear-cut case of good versus evil, and the plot may involve things like robbing criminals. If that bothers you, don’t read.

Both leads are sexually inexperienced, and the romance is a minor part of the story. If that bothers you, don’t read.

Two faces. Two lives.

“Hey, why do you do this kind of work?”

“Because I want revenge.”

“You’ve heard of Nightmare, the one who’s made a name for herself in the scene these past few years, right?”

“I have. What about her?”

“I hear she’s good in a fight.”

“Oh? Then I’ll have to meet her.”

“Have you ever seen my younger sister?”

“Your sister?”

“Yeah. She went missing twelve years ago. I’ve been looking for her ever since.”

“The girl I saw at your house when we were kids?”

“That’s right. She went missing around here.”

“They’re always picking on me because I’m young. I have ‘unlimited potential,’ while they’re at the peak of their careers, so I guess it’s only natural. But it still hurts. Why do they treat me like this? Sometimes I still want to go back to X City...”

“X City?”

“Yeah. I met someone there more than ten years ago, and that’s what set me on this path.”

“Do you have any family?”

“I do. My mom and dad, my older brother, and a big golden retriever named Shrimp. It’s just... I might never see them again.”

“You will.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. I promise.”
