Even the Top Student Wants to Conquer the Wild, Tough Boy

[Two top students | Equally strong leads | Goofy fake good girl vs. unruly, genuinely sincere boy | Silly, sweet romance | Mutual salvation | A little angst later on, so don’t come looking for pure sweetness]

They say Class One has a top-scoring science student from the high school entrance exams named Ji Yan, devastatingly handsome. Wen Wan scoffs, convinced her standards are far too high to be impressed. Then she meets Ji Yan in person, and the face-slapping hits hard. This handsome guy really is striking, and he has a rebellious air about him. Wen Wan’s heart, untouched for a thousand years, suddenly skips a few beats.

When they meet again, Wen Wan thinks he’s pretty punchable. His arrogant, overbearing attitude in particular makes her want to snap back at him every chance she gets.

But what Wen Wan doesn’t expect is that, as they spend more time together, this big shot who acts like he’s above everyone reveals a tenderness and thoughtfulness in everything he does.

“Why aren’t you acting wild anymore? He just said that to you,” Wen Wan says with a smile.

Ji Yan scoffs. “Your Ji-ge wants to let loose, of course.”

“Hmm?”

Ji Yan leans down and whispers softly into her ear. “A young lady like you shouldn’t have to watch this kind of violence.”

Wen Wan’s ears feel a little hot. She looks up at the sharp Adam’s apple right in front of her and swallows. “I’ve seen it all.”

Ji Yan chuckles and pats her head. “Let’s go.”

He straightens up, backlit by the sun. “Ji-ge’s taking you home.”
