The Bloody Battle for Nanjing

Wu Tao is a veteran of the War of Resistance Against Japan. He fought in the Battle of Shanghai, the Taiyuan Campaign, the Defense of Nanjing, the Huaihai Campaign, and more. At fourteen, he was conscripted into the National Revolutionary Army. At sixteen, he took part in the Defense of Nanjing, as well as later campaigns such as the Battle of Changsha and the Battle of Taierzhuang. Before the defense began, Wu Tao met Tang Yunlong, a member of the Eighth Route Army, and helped him fight. Tang Yunlong was disguised as a company commander of the Nationalist Army's 305th Regiment to carry out a secret mission. After befriending Tang Yunlong, Wu Tao left the Nationalist Army and joined the Eighth Route Army. (This book is told in first person to give it a semi-realistic feel.)
