Cohesion and Development: Investigation and Research on the Construction of the Chinese National Community

This book focuses on the main line of forging the consciousness of the Chinese nation's community in the new era, and focuses on the goals of "promoting the Chinese nation to move towards a more inclusive and cohesive community with a shared future" and "promoting all ethnic groups to jointly move towards socialist modernization". With the title of "Cohesion and Development", this book collects more than 20 representative scientific research results published by the author since he worked at the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, building a strong sense of the Chinese nation's community has become the main line of national work, and promoting the construction of the Chinese nation's community has become an important task. This book is based on the "Comprehensive Survey on Economic and Social Development of my country's Ethnic Minority Areas in the Early 21st Century" ("The Third Major Ethnic Survey"), a special commissioned project of the National Social Science Foundation organized and implemented by the author as the chief expert, and based on the results of more than 60 "major surveys" that have completed the project. A number of research results formed during intensive domestic and overseas field surveys and theoretical research have been compiled into a volume. From them, we can not only see the development of the author's academic views since he started working on ethnic studies, but also reflect, to a certain extent, the changing trajectory of China's ethnic theory and policy research orientation and related discourses in the new era.
