A lonely boy meets the fairy who saves him.
In the plum grove, Ji Shuyu comes across the Fourth Prince being bullied. She steps in to help him, though she can't say why. Perhaps his handsome face simply bewitched her.
Later, Ji Shuyu becomes bound to him for good. She helps him defeat Liyue and fight for the throne, watching him steadily ascend to the seat of supreme power as they pass through countless seasons together. Ji Shuyu gradually softens and falls in love with Zhao Jinchen.
Alas, the first to fall in love is the one whose heart changes. Zhao Jinchen gradually puts the throne above all else. He becomes a good emperor beloved by his people, but he is no longer Ji Shuyu's Prince Chen.
They meet in the plum grove, and there they part ways. The plum blossoms remain as fragrant as ever, but the one he knew is gone. Zhao Jinchen keeps vigil at her grave, living out his days in regret.
It can only be understood but cannot be expressed in words. Nothing is said
Personally, I think this book is well written, but the characterization is still lacking, but the plot is relatively rich, and the story is very touching.
