After staying up for several days and nights, I finally finished reading this book while switching back and forth between reading and listening. The author's writing style is superb, and he vividly depicts the characters and storylines in the book, as if during the Emperor Wu's period, there really was such a fragrance shop in a small street in Luoyang. The shopkeeper was a skilled perfume maker, and he had two boys with opposite personalities. He was famous for his good craftsmanship. I have seen many readers saying that they hate the protagonist Mo'er in the story, but I feel that it is her advantages and disadvantages that make this character more vivid and three-dimensional. Just imagine what we were doing when we were twelve or thirteen years old in today's real world. We have no worries about food and clothing. Isn't it the same with being playful, eating well and being lazy? Or playing games and bullying classmates? When I was twelve or thirteen years old, my parents were extremely worried that I would not be able to get into a good junior high school, a key class, or a good university in the future. As for me, I might even make excuses for my playfulness and unsatisfactory grades. Perhaps because it ends in tragedy or with an undefined ending, this kind of story makes readers more confused and endlessly daydreaming.
