You There, Get Yourself to the Imperial Exams!

[Imperial Exams + Everyday Life + Farming and Prosperity + Powerful Officials]

Fang Yuan transmigrated to a dynasty called Anshun.

He found himself in a place called Chang Family Village, where the villagers were simple and good-hearted, and everyone stood together.

Fang Yuan had planned to lie flat and live out his days there. But in this life, his grandfather fell so ill that he nearly died. As he made his final arrangements, his greatest wish was for Fang Yuan to study and take the imperial exams.

Fine, then. He'd change his name and take the exams!

When Chang Siyuan first entered school, he got into trouble. While the others studied at lunchtime, he sleepwalked, leaving his teacher unimpressed.

In his fourth year, Chang Siyuan entered the exam hall with the hopes of his teacher and family on his shoulders. He came first in each of the first three rounds, but after the decisive final round, he placed second.

When the prefectural exam came around, Chang Siyuan set out once more. This time, he claimed the top spot, but also offended the son of a powerful official.

Chang Siyuan wasn't afraid. He went on to take the academy exam, but just as he arrived for the autumn examination, the official's son provoked him again and forced him into a contest.

After two rounds of exams, Chang Siyuan once again came first. He was happily on his way to collect the silver he'd won when the official's son pointed at him and jeered, “So what if you placed first? What prospects could a farm boy like you possibly have?”

A farm boy has no prospects? Fine. I'll carve out a path for myself!

He built workshops, fired bricks and tiles, and made rice threshers...

He pressed onward, and with his knowledge, claimed the top honors!

When he returned to his hometown, he turned Chang Family Village, and even the entire Great Bay region, into Anshun's first economically prosperous district!

Chang Siyuan thought he could finally lie flat, but then someone came looking for him...
