[Two male leads + devoted to each other + universally adored protagonist + school life + 1v1 + romantic rivalry]
Su Heng is an “ordinary” rich kid, but he goes to an anything-but-ordinary school. He thinks he’ll be able to spend his three years of high school in peace, until one day his brain “short-circuits.”
Su Heng dreams that he’s a cannon-fodder passerby in a novel with two male leads, destined for a tragic ending in which his family is destroyed because of a few unfortunate incidents.
At first, he dismisses it as a dream. But then he sees one of the protagonists from the dream, and has no choice but to believe that he really is the unlucky cannon fodder.
To avoid meeting the same fate as his dream self, he decides to stay away from the protagonist group. He believes that if he can dodge every plot point, then once the protagonists are happily together, his life will return to normal.
At first, Su Heng does just that. But for some reason, he gradually discovers that the events that should have happened to the protagonist who’s on the receiving end are happening to him instead.
Whenever he’s around, a romantic rivalry can erupt at any moment. Not only do the protagonists who take the top role focus all their attention on him, even the original story’s protagonist on the receiving end starts looking at him strangely.
Only belatedly does Su Heng realize something is wrong. He wants to transfer schools and get away, but it’s already too late.
(Take a guess at who the top is. The blurb differs somewhat from the actual story.)
