The heroine transmigrates to a desolate wilderness several hundred years in the past, where snakes and rats are everywhere. She rails against the unfairness of the world, only for a venomous snake to bite her leg. Just as she's about to die of poisoning, the story seems doomed from the start. In her final moments, she catches sight of a figure.
When she wakes, the first thing she sees is an old man wearing a mask. He learns she has nowhere to go and takes her in, bringing her to his residence.
Later, after seeing all the things in the residence and its many disciples, she realizes the old man is a cooking instructor. Intrigued, she decides to become his apprentice.
