Only Yi’s Promise: Burning Desire

This book is the sequel to A Promise Only We Made, but it is nothing like the familiar domineering CEO romance. It tells the story of a young man born into the shadows, and how he walks a perilous path between the lust for power and true affection. [Xie Weiyi] He is the posthumous son of the Xie family's Fifth Master, someone who “should never have existed.” To ensure his safety as he grew up, Xie Jin publicly declared him the legitimate eldest son, giving him the most prestigious identity and a prison forged from ironclad rules. From then on, he learned to walk along the blade's edge of those rules. [Cheng Jin] She is the only one who dares to enter his prison: intelligent, perceptive, and sensible. She loves him deeply, but their difference in status and age keeps her love locked away, day and night. She is the purest patch of soil in his heart, both forbidden ground and the one softness he would never dare defile. [Murong You] She is an untamed beam of light that crashes into his orderly world. Quirky and spirited, when she goes wild, she doesn't even care if she lives or dies. He knows the feud between their families, and he knows her reasons for getting close to him are impure, yet for the first time, he lets himself burn: they love and fight, set boundaries for each other, and protect one another. He is not a scumbag. He and Cheng Jin remain faithful to each other. He simply knows all too well that once certain lines are crossed, there is no going back. Burdened by so many responsibilities, how will he take back the reins of his fate? Caught up in so many entangled feelings, how can he make room for two such different kinds of love? When the family's undercurrents surge and his true origins come to light where will the young man who has been struggling between power and principle ultimately end up?
