Relics left behind by the Old Gods offered power beyond science, but at a cost no mortal could bear. The pioneers had long been tempting reckless fools from beneath the abyss. The Old Gods drove us mad, but what destroys us... is greed.

A boy who had clawed his way along the bottom of the food chain won a ticket to the underground realm in a lab accident. The coward cast aside kindness and compassion, and abandoned his pious prayers. With the ashes at his feet, he would prove the Old Gods powerless and foolish.
