From the Start, I Could Borrow Against My Lifespan

[Everyday comedy, with a power struggle later on. The protagonist is very crafty.]

Since ancient times, there have been people among humanity who could grasp powers beyond the ordinary. People call this power qi.

There are two kinds of people who can grasp qi: those gifted with it later in life, and those born with extraordinary abilities. This is where the phrase “the gifted and the extraordinary” comes from.

Throughout history, many famous figures were gifted and extraordinary. They include the ancient shamans, the emperors Yan and Huang, and later renowned figures such as Xiang Yu, Huo Qubing, and Zhuge Kongming.

This is because people can grasp qi. Yet qi existed long before humanity appeared. Back then, Earth was ruled not by humans, but by strange beasts.

These were the monsters described in "The Classic of Mountains and Seas". Now, after thousands of years, the seals binding those monsters have begun to break.

Spurred on by people with ulterior motives, strange beasts, famous and unknown alike, are returning to the human world, carrying thousands of years of hatred for humanity!
