That Midsummer

[Bright, playful girl with a surprising side] vs. [Insecure, deeply devoted boy] She grew up surrounded by love in a happy family, like a ray of sunshine. His father never cared for him and his mother never loved him. With an unhappy home life, he began to imagine happiness because of her. “I’m going to kiss you,” I said. He lowered his head, cupped her face, and pressed his lips to hers. The boy didn’t know how to kiss. Excited and inexperienced, he simply kept rubbing and brushing against her lips. They stood in the shadows. Plenty of people passed by without seeing them, but they could hear the noise. More and more people were heading back to the dorms. Shi Shang was so dizzy from the kiss that she pushed him away with some effort, stammering that the dorm was about to close. Shen Chi ignored her. He paused, then leaned in to kiss her again. “Baby,” Shen Chi murmured in a husky voice, coaxing her. “Baby, open your mouth.” For some reason, Shi Shang suddenly laughed. She dodged him, slipped behind him, and said thoughtfully, “Baby, you don’t know how to do the kind that needs an open mouth.” Then she bolted toward the dorm entrance.
