"Flowers in Flames" tells the story of Japanese officer Takahashi Anyu who was dispatched to the Japanese Military Police Headquarters in Shanghai after the fall of Shanghai in 1937 as deputy commander. On the ship to Shanghai, she met Xu Yucheng, the eldest daughter of Shanghai Xu Company, and later had a series of emotional entanglements with her.
