Back to 2001 to Chase My Dreams

The beginning is hilarious, the middle is carefree, and the ending is tragic. Gao Hongda is over 40 and has accomplished nothing. He is constantly unlucky, and it has become his defining trait. Every single place he has worked has gone bankrupt and shut down. He has tried more than half of the 360 trades, yet still has nothing to show for it. In the end, he has no choice but to make a living driving for a ride-hailing service. During a disaster, he is inexplicably captured by a snake-bodied alien and taken aboard a flying saucer, where he is modified and given the power to control the dimensions of time. They send him back 23 years, to 2001, so he can start his life over at 18. Step by step, he turns his vile, sordid fantasies into reality, enjoying beautiful women and more money than he can spend. Yet even a life with cheat powers cannot escape the ravages of this turbulent world. In the end, he realizes that life is nothing but a dream: don’t chase ten thousand when fate grants you three thousand. Eat only as much as your bowl can hold. The blessings you enjoy are determined by your merits, and the sins you commit will bring their share of suffering.
