The 1911 Revolution (CPPCC Historical Records: The Library of Firsthand Accounts)

This is a major historical documentary work primarily composed of memoirs and commemorative essays. Set against the backdrop of modern Chinese history in the early twentieth century, it uses major events that took place across China around the time of the Xinhai Revolution as milestones. Drawing on historical materials including some of the revolution-related documents edited and published by the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, materials compiled by local CPPCC committees and scholars, and manuscripts on the revolution held by the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Museum of History, the book offers a comprehensive account of the revolution’s concrete course and historical significance from a broad range of fields, levels, and perspectives. Most of the 384 articles, totaling more than 3.5 million characters, have been published before. As a result, the collection is of solid quality, with a grand scope, a clear theme, and a coherent approach. It is an important reference for further deepening and expanding specialized research into the history of the Xinhai Revolution.
