"Grassroots" Heroes

This book contains the memories of people from all over the country and from various industries about the heroes around them. Some of these heroes are the parents of the author, some are teachers, some are classmates, and some are fellow villagers. These heroes were originally ordinary people, but for the sake of the war of resistance, they either shed their blood in the army without hesitation, or spontaneously organized teams to fight against the invaders, or devoted all their lives and enthusiasm to support and publicize the war of resistance. This book is divided into two parts, with a total of five chapters. The first chapter tells about the grassroots heroes in the army. The first chapter shows the heroic soldiers who emerged from the Eighth Route Army and the New Fourth Army under the leadership of the Communist Party of China during the War of Resistance; the second chapter shows the middle and lower-level officers such as regiment commanders and battalion commanders who fought bravely and shed blood in the Kuomintang army; the third chapter shows the few remaining memories of the countless ordinary soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the eight-year war of resistance. The next article talks about the anti-war heroes who emerged from all walks of life. Chapter 4 tells about those who, from Chinese Communist Party members to ordinary people, were unable to go to the front lines to kill the enemy, but used their own efforts to publicize and support the Anti-Japanese War, and were not afraid of bloodshed and sacrifice like soldiers; Chapter 5 tells about those people who had the courage to personally take up arms to fight against the invaders. Some of them were ordinary people affected by the CCP, some were retired former Kuomintang officers, and some were just for the belief that "every man has a responsibility." The heroes described in this book, whose highest position is no more than regimental commanders, have embarked on a common battlefield for the same belief in serving the country. They can be said to be examples of "grassroots heroes".
