The Seven Emotions Tribulation

Synopsis of the wuxia novel Seven Emotions Tribulation:

To seek treatment for his illness, Tan Yonglun moves into Cold Moon Painting Studio, home of the reclusive physician Ba Hu Gong. There he meets Zhu Zhenzhen, a kind and innocent young woman suffering from the strange affliction known as the Seven Emotions Tribulation. She is the daughter of the fallen Jianwen Emperor. The condition is peculiar: giving free rein to any of the seven emotions or six desires could put her life in danger. To protect Zhu Zhenzhen, Tan Lun is forced to use his martial arts, causing his illness to worsen. Before long, he encounters Leng Chunlan, who has arrived with Duan, the young marquis, in pursuit of the Jianwen Emperor. Tan challenges Duan to a duel. Before the fight, Duan admits that he used a scheme to take Leng Chunlan from him all those years ago, unaware that Leng was hiding nearby and heard everything. Tan defeats Duan and leaves. At last, in a final battle against the Imperial Guards, Tan kills a powerful enemy, but his illness finally claims him, and he dies beside Zhu Zhenzhen.
