Nie Qinqin is an unmarried college graduate from a poor rural family. In her generation, people who managed to get into college were few and far between.
She never imagined that the book-loving girl she once was would overcome challenge after challenge and make it all the way to college.
Because her family was poor, her childhood dream was to study hard, get into a good university, find a good job, and improve her family’s life.
But ideals are rosy, while reality is disappointing.
After graduating, she hit one dead end after another in her job search, and at one point even lost her diploma. To make ends meet, she worked at several factories, inspecting handbags and watches. Factory work was grueling and poorly paid, and the long hours left people numb. She often sat on a stone bench outside the factory, staring blankly at the crowds passing by. Life felt like a dream.
Determined to change her life, she signed up for training courses to build a range of professional skills. At last, she landed a job as a foreign-trade sales coordinator.
She thought everything would be fine, but she never expected the office to be full of scheming and backstabbing.
Still young, she quit and returned to her hometown to look for another job. She thought a change of job would make things better, but the workplace was still full of deceit and intrigue. Sure enough, wherever there are people, there are rivalries. It’s truly difficult for a single woman to get ahead at work. Some of the colleagues who started at the same time as her had already become managers, while she was suppressed, sidelined, and ostracized, until she finally resigned in defeat.
What a huge gap between the life she imagined and the one she got. The only cure for sorrow is getting rich!
Rejecting the rat race and refusing to waste her energy on anxiety, she boldly quits at the age of 36 to seek a new path. Will a brighter tomorrow be waiting for her?
Very good, very realistic. I just want to be able to work more smoothly. It's so frustrating to watch 🥺
