I Transmigrated into a Book and I'm Going to Become Empress

Yun Shang wakes up one day to discover that she has transmigrated into a book: a novel written by her best friend. She has become a minor character who doesn’t live for more than a few days, and she’s at a loss for words. But it’s fine. As a die-hard fan of palace-intrigue novels, she can tease the unsmiling Consort Xian today and flirt with the pretty young maid tomorrow. Yun Shang is having a wonderful time in the imperial harem, but she never tries to get close to the emperor. Her personal maid is beside herself with worry. Why won’t her mistress ever do what she’s supposed to? Little does she know that her mistress is hatching a grand plan. Since Yun Shang is here, she might as well become empress!

(This is not a strictly palace-intrigue novel, so if you’re looking for pure intrigue, you may want to look elsewhere. The author has read many palace-intrigue novels, most of them featuring a clear-headed heroine focused on her career and a hero who doesn’t love her at first but later devotes himself to her alone. So the author wanted to write a different kind of palace-intrigue story. Xu Yunshang is not a brilliant, formidable heroine, but a sweet, soft-hearted crybaby with a little bit of cunning, though not much. The hero protects her well. At first, he merely feels fond of her, but little by little he falls for this quirky, spirited girl. The author knows this sort of thing could never happen in a palace-intrigue novel, but really likes the premise and wanted to give it a try.)
